In solidarity with the STAND UP proteest

(Tribals of Kerala protest for Land)

We used to  refer to ourselves in third person
We now stand up
to own the land
below our feet
to entomb our names
in alphabets of our tongue.

We shift the pain of this agonizing wait
From one foot to the other
Even as celebrities  shoot selfies with us,
as if brotherhood and solidarity
were rolled up their sleeve
and think that we got no tomorrow.

We used to refers to ourselves in third person
Now our boots have grown roots!
Cops could evict us anytime
Even before I finish this poem.
I exit and then protest in verses!

P.S.We used to  refer to ourselves in third person,
our mode of protest has deserted us
       in pursuit of greener pastures
like the tentative publisher of this poem!
